Rigging

"K" - Classical rigging

The classical "K" rigger is the one that most people associate with Empacher. It is simple, & strong but has the least amount of fore and aft adjustment. The classical rigger has 2 positions for the rigger to fit onto the boat and as a result has the most amount of up/down adjustment. This is favoured in crew boats where the weight of the crew will be changing quite a bit. In other words a wing rigger boat only has around 4cm of adjustment where a K rigged 8  has over 11cm of adjustment. with the exception of a few internal fittings, the K and S boats are identical. They both have the full compliment of ribs in the cockpit areas. K riggers are able to fit onto S boats, but S riggers are not able to be fit to boats originally ordered as K boats. Boats can also be switched from port/starboard stroked with K rigger, but not with any wing riggers.
